Hello everyone. Finally got to shoot my new in the box Ruger GP100 with the 4" barrel today. Our weather lately has been around 0 degrees at night and around 15 during the day time making it a little too cold to shoot it since its purchase around two weeks ago. Today it was a nice 45 degrees so I decided to bust a few caps through it. I started off with .38spl 158g lrn loads at my usual 30yds to get the feel of the gun and do coarse sight alignment. It started off shooting about 4" high and 4" to the right which I quickly fixed with a few clicks to the left and down. I actually went a few too many down and had it shooting about 2" low with the 38's. Now onto my favorite load, the Federal 125g .357 magnum. The first couple of those went about an inch low so I gave it a few clicks back up and presto, the next two went dead center and were about 3/4 on an inch from each other. I fired the last two which opened to the group up some to about 2". All shooting was done from a Hoppes pistol rest. As usual from a revolver there were no malfunctions of any kind from the GP100 although I only fired approx 12 38spl and 12 .357 mags from it. To me that's one of the beauties of the revolver. No break in period required. :)

Congrats on the new find, I am picking up the same gun from a friend of mine. I cant wait to get it and put it through "the ringer".

Congrats on the new gun and thanks for the range report. I love those guns where you get 2 for the price of one: 38/357, 10/40, and my favorite the 45acp/45Colt (extra cylinder for the 45colt.)
There are others, I just don't have them…….yet.

Shoot Safe and Often

Congrats and good shooting.
2" at 30 yards is good shooting, even from a rest.
My GP100 is just over a year old and it's great.
I did have some light primer strikes with mine. Turned out to be a burr on the frame robbing the hammer's energy. Easily fixed at home.
Mine loves cast wadcutters, swaged SWCs and plated bullets. That makes this handloader happy.

I'm hoping to upgrade to the Bowen rear sight to help my eyes and I switched to a red ramp front sight. I also switched to the old style Ruger grips with panels. Recoil is better with the old grips, I think it's the higher grip you get with them.
