Ruger GP 100 sight questions

Has anyone ever messed with the sights on there GP 100. I found this front sight http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=688079

an thought I could do the DIY testors paint on it like I did my Bersa 380

Has anyone done this before or have any other suggestions?

also how do you get the front sight off?

The front sight is easily changed on a GP-100. The front of the barrel is a compression screw under spring pressure that you push in and lift off the front sight. Piece of cake!

The Williams Firesights have a good reputation, and you can easily check to see if you like the first one by putting a white stripe on your existing sight.

To remove the front sight, poke something in the small hole in the muzzle above the barrel and push against the spring pressure. The front sight will lift off.

Whiteout or as you mentioned Testors paint is cheaper. That's what we did in the Academy.

Yeah I white striped mine with Testors. It stays on real well and helps in low light greatly.

I put a fiber optic front sight on my GP100. Mine is made by Marble's. Midway has them. They are listed under Marble's Ruger Super Redhawk fiber optic front sight .332. They work great on a GP100. You can sure see them better than the factory sight. Here is a link to Midway –
