Shot this gun for the first time , this afternoon .

I like it . Heavy enough to soak up the recoil of 100% hand loads .

I installed lower power springs , earlier in the week . After several rounds & the gun started to get dirty , I started to have misfires due to light strikes of the FP .

I will install the next heavier main spring and test it again .

I am satisfied with the gun . :-)

God bless

Congrats on the GP! Well made and great shooters.

I put springs in my SP and it did wonders on the trigger pull. I think I settled with the medium on the hammer spring. If I remember right it went from 13 to a 9 pound DA pull.

Great Guns

Congrats.... One of the best .357s on the market.
Totally agree and they are No.2 on my top five revolver list. ... ;)

Can you tell us what spring you put in and what you plan on going too, next?

Be Safe !!!

Have one in 6" also. Played some with a set of wolf springs, got bad resets with the lighter return springs wound up in the end with a 10 lb mainspring (next one down from factory) and back to factory return spring. Hasn't missed a beat since.

With lightning up springs it has been proven that a 10# trigger return and a 12# hammer spring is reliable combo. I am using the lighter spring combo of 8# trigger and 10# hammer and use ONLY Federal primers and have had few miss fires and I know it is from primer install issues. Dirt has NOT effected my revolvers reliability. With lightning up springs in any revolver you will have to use federal primers only being they are the softest primer in todays market.

Power springs? trigger return springs??!! ***?? I've had three, 6 inch GP100's (first I had to sell, second is at the bottom of a marina in Titusville FLA. and the third is squirreled away where my sons can't find it) and never messed with any of them. With practice one can shoot his (or her) DA pistols as fast and more accurately shooting SA. In an ill advised experiment I loaded my 357's with small rifle primers (not Federals, as they are "thinner" than others ) and touched them off with the "factory" springs in my "Mini Redhawk" and they all went BANG!!

I never messed around with the springs on my 6" GP100. It's a very good revolver and I like it just the way it is from the factory. I never had any problems with it either.

Heres my KGP-161:

This thing is a freaking beast. Never felt the need to lighten anything on the gun. Dry firing thousands of times and shooting 100's of .38s and .357s makes for a nice smooth trigger pull on these babies.

I use mine for distinguished revolver matches.
Installed the 10# hammer/main spring and the 8# trigger return spring.
It passes the single action trigger weight of 2.5# but will not lift 2.75#(perfect)
I shoot timed and rapid in double action.
So using lower power springs to keep it practical and reliable are needed in revolvers for certain applications.
Great revolver.

I concur, using mine in ICORE, bobbed hammer and internals polished and as stated same spring package.
