HELLO ALL NEED QUICK ADVICE!

I found a Ruger GP-100 4 inch at my local store. I have not seen it yet (they told me on phone). They are selling it for someone. The seller of the gun will not go under $360. This here in CA with 7% sales tax and $25 DOJ transfer fee translates to about $411 for out the door purchase.

My question is if I check it out and it locks up well and works good would you all pay this? I love the look of the gp 100 and 4 inch barrel seems a good middle ground length. Fun at the range? The grips are so beutiful I would probably never even switch the grips. They tell me on phone that it is near perfect looking like it has had no rounds through it.

Please let me know if this is worth it and also what tests I should/can do on it in shop to see if it is up to par. Also the new suggested retail on Ruger web site is $615 If I add DOJ and tax to that it would run me about $683 so it sounds like a good deal to me. THANKS ALL!

They sell around here new for about $450 so that isn't a bad price. Actually a pretty good price IMHO.

I just bought a 6 inch GP 100 from a dealer for 200 out the door.

It pays to shop around. Try gunbroker.com and see what they get there.

Just paid 325 out the door for mine 4 weeks ago. Prices vary, the dealer had one as you mentioned for the same. another dealer had one in the box for 299. new at Sheels in Omaha ne 429.00

If it is stainless I would say its about average not necessarily a good deal. A blued model in 4" or 6" is about $380 NIB at any of my local sporting goods stores. A stainless is about $420. Personally if I'm spending $400 or over on a gun, I want a brand new one. If its stainless you are only saving about $20 or so. I would rather spend the extra $20 and have a new gun.

ca :(

Yeah at first those prices you guys quoted made me feel cheated because I bought it already hehe

But then I remembered CA sales tax. It is about $7.20 per hundred added onto the price. So mine out the door was $411

As I was buying one another guy came for it but I already had it. He purchased a new one right next to me for $599 before tax and $25 DOJ registration fee. So so i saved about $256 I guess.

Any of you guys quoting those prices in CA? I hope not hehe

CA? no I live in Gods country, Iowa :) I have relatives in L.A. area, my brother moved back from Hermosa beach and Orange county he lived in both places at one time or another. I have an uncle in Huntington beach and some cousins there and in Temecula, I have been out there for my job many times. I myself could not live there and be as comfy as I am here.

Do you guys have permit to purchase that you get from the sheriffs office? We get these for a small fee, it lets you go into a gun shop buy a handgun and walk out the door without any other checks or waiting period. A must have IMHO :) we also have concealed carry. Not sure of CA tho.

How does it shoot? Do you like it? I sure like mine. Just got back from the range, started with inverted wad cutters in match ammo, and worked my way up to 180 gr sjsn in .357. Those have a kick outta my 3in gp100. Good luck and happy shooting to you.

markj. I do have a CCW so that makes me not have to do a saftey test every time I purchase a gun in CA. But yeah the 7% tax is a killer and even with a CCW there is a 10 day wait. I do not even have my gun yet. Will not get it until next year :) Glad to hear yours works so well. I cannot wait to shoot mine! This is only my second revolver and I now love em WAY more than Autos.

I got a used one this past summer at Gander Mountain. It came with everything including the shipper and 3 sets of grips. I paid $325 out the door.

good price

Good gun (I own two).

BreakFree CLP.......try 140g bullets.......Millett orange-ramp front sight blade, about $20.......and try USPSA/IPSC with it.......

I just bought a 6 inch GP 100 from a dealer for 200 out the door.
That's a spanking good price and not at all representative of the market, at least not for Va. The cheapest GP100 I've seen was $260 and well used.

Ruger GP-100

About 6 months ago, at a gun show, I almost bought a ROYAL CANADIAN MOUNTED POLICE turn in [Double Action Only] Stainless GP-100 for $200.00.
