Ruger followers in Mec-Gar mags ?

I've put almost 600 rounds through my P95 without a hitch when using Ruger factory mags. However, I tried some new Mec-Gar mags yesterday and within about 100 rounds, I had two double feeds. Switched back to Ruger mags and had no problems.

Now I bought the Mec-Gars mainly for range practice, but I'd like them to work. After taking one apart, I see that the follower simply isn't as well designed as the factory version.

Has anyone replaced the followers in after-market mags with the factory followers and had better luck? I'm thinking about getting a few Ruger followers and seeing if this takes care of the problem.

Only one way to find out. If it works, it works. I'd suggest, however, that you just stick with Ruger Mags anyhow. They are really cheap.

I use Ruger followers in Pro-mag bodies and Triple Ks. The Mec-gars that I use have different followers, and would not accept the "stem" type followers from Ruger. They are like a cap over the spring. I have never had any problems with the Mec-gars as they come from the factory. It sounds like you are having the problems I used to have with the Triple K and Pro-mag followers. If your Mec-gars have the "stem" type follower, I would try the Ruger followers. They are only $1.50 ea from Ruger.

Mec-Gar mags are the only ones we have trouble with in Terri's Taurus PT-92. I will not be buying any more. Ironically we paid extra for them over some others due to their good reputation.
