Just checked out a stainless ruger vaquero w birds head grip in . 45 today at a local gun shop. LUV'ed it!! May have to make it my next purchase. Anyone own one? Any thoughts?

Your post does not make it clear if you are referring to one of the new Talo edition New Vaquero Birdshead or on of the older Vaquero Birdshead. I have the new one except mine (stainless and blued) are chambered in .45 acp. Very nice guns. I really like the newer birdshead grips which are "gunfighter" grips and nicely shaped.

A most bad ass gun for sure. I love mine! I did have to ream the cylinder to stop the leading though.

yes, rugeritis runs wild!! thanks for the replies, guys. I sure do love the look of this gun, so bee-u-tee-ful!! :D hey, how accurate are they? anyone carry one for sd?

Yup, it's .45 Colt and that is my carry rig. It's plenty accurate at normal SD ranges.

Single action wheel guns are good natural pointers which is what you want when your diaper fills up.

now thats a sweeeet setup. i see now why birdshead grips are called gunfighters grips. need a black hat to go with that belt ill bet u got one though. makes me want one like that.

Sweet! Other than the birdshead aspect, same basic gun as the .Montado .45/.357 and .44 Sheriff. Love my Montado and Sheriff and wouldn't mind having one or a pair also with the birdshead. C'mon Ruger! Maybe this is a test case! Like the Bisley, the bh grip's feel is subective, isn't for everyone. It took me awhile to get used to my bh Single Six .32 Vaquerito's grips. Not all Ruger bh's are gunfighter style and the new profile may help win more fans. "Gunfighter" in this instance refers to the type of slimmed and contoured profile given the grip--and unique (so far) among Ruger birdsheads to this special .45 series (and maybe a few Talo Single Six bh specials?) IIRC.
