Ruger Fake Ivory Grips and my Blackhawk

I recently purchase some of the faux Ivory grips offerd through the Ruger Store.

When I put them on my gun, they did not fit very well, with the grip extending past the backstrap and the heel.

Can I sand these grips down, or will it make the plastic (I assume that is what they are made of) look dull and ruin the grip?

I don't want to send them back, it took nearly 6 months of backorder to actually receive them and I don't want to wait that long again!

Has anyone here on TFL had the same problem? Help me out here! Thanks!

If they are plastic, I would sand them down.

To get the sheen the same as the rest of the grip, any fine plastic polish ought to take the fine scratches out.

Try sanding a small spot and then the polish before you tackle the whole grip.
