Ruger Double Action Revolvers Quiz!

I am semi-retired and I am taking a self-passed and self-taught Armorers course and now I am on the Ruger Double Action Revolvers. I hope to become a part-time light Gunsmith in the near future.

There are over 60 quiz questions covering this firearm and I have answered most of them hopefully correctly but during my study and research I am having some problems related to some of the following quiz questions. I have conflicting answers.

Can you help me determine the correct answers for these few quiz questions? Please correct my wrong answers!

Thanks for your help.

a) Clockwise
b) Counter clockwise

Note #10. What would a wider hand (pawl) do?
a) Cause the cylinder to rotate sooner b) Cause the cylinder to rotate later
c) Cause the cylinder to not rotate as far
d) Cause the cylinder to rotate farther

Note #11. What holds the crane tight against the frame?
a) A crane screw
b) Loctite
c) A spring and plunger
d) Nothing, as the crane should never be tight against the frame

Note #12. What provides power to the hammer?
a) The sear spring
b) The mainspring
c) The box spring

Note #13. The nose of the hammer is the firing pin. True or false

Note #14. The trigger guard is held in place by a plunger. True or false

Note #15. What holds the firing pin in place?
a) A bushing
b) A screw
c) Nothing it is the nose of the hammer

9) If you had cocked the gun for a single action shot -- the cylinder would NOT MOVE AT ALL when pulled! ;) Counter clockwise for a DA pull.

10) gunsmith question -- I don't know

11) c, spring and plunger, I believe...it's held in properly when the trigger unit is in place.

12) b, mainspring

13) false, not a firing pin

14) true-- though it's not just the trigger guard, the trigger guard is a large cast-steel unit and that entire unit is held in place by a plunger

15) a, I think. Definitely not c

16) c, both pulling trigger (DA) or cocking the hammer

Now I'm not sure I got all these correctly, but I've got to say...
These are questions that most any Ruger DA revolver enthusiast that tinkers a bit with guns should be able to answer. A prospective gun smith? These are basic or below basic, IMO.

I'm no gunsmith, I don't have the talent for it. I clean a ridiculous load of guns and I have familiarity with a lot of them because of it.

I can see some of these questions being tough if you don't own or have never handled a Ruger DA revolver...but if you do have one and you can't answer these questions -- that's okay, but I don't think you are gunsmith material in that event.

Just my opinion.

P.S. Just my opinion.

:p at Aarond. ;)
I wasn't trying to be rude. More to the point, the question about the pawl is a "gunsmithing" type of question, IMO. The others are more about familiarity with Ruger revolvers.

Was the OP trying to quiz the audience? Or does the OP really not know the answers?

Either is fine.
