Ruger Deerfield .44 Mag

So, tell me what you think about this rifle. Seemed easy to handle, well built (as a Ruger should be), and solid. My plan is to have it in a scabbard on my horse someday.

I would think the .44 Mag should be good out the 100 yards, no? Not too excited about the 4-round magazine....I don't think there are any aftermarket sources for higher capacity, either.

Anyone had any experience with this piece?

I had one of the early .44 Mag SA carbines. Worked okay. (Sold it on account of iron sights and trifocals don't work together all that well.) I'd generally call the .44 okay for a 100-yard critter.

I am planning on getting one some day. I am planning on an M1 Garand and a 357 Levergun first though.
