Ruger Decocker Mechanism

I have a Ruger P95DC. I've had it for a few years and have have fired a bunch of rounds through it. I recently noticed that the decocking levers on the sides would move a little bit before I could feel resistance from the springs. I can also squeeze them and they will move inward slightly.

I went to the gunshop and looked at a new one... They were tight & responsive.

Just wondering if this is something that happens with normal use or should I worry about it. They are not super sloppy and don't act like they will fall out, but better safe than sorry. If you have one in your collection, please take the time to feel the decocking levers and give me a report.

Thanks

I have a P95 too.
Yes the decocker lever does travel through about 5 deg of arc before engaging.I consider this to be normal. I have not had a decocker failure. There is no lateral movement, however. If you have any doubt at all about the condition of your gun, and it's safe operation, take it to a gunsmith, and have it checked out!!! It is better to spend a little money now than to possibly injure yourself or others by firing an unsafe weapon!!!!!!

It is normal for the decocker lever to move a little before significant resistance is felt, but it should still be under spring tension and not just flopping around. If it is loose or not returning all the way, better have a gunsmith or Ruger look at it.

If it becomes a problem I would first call Ruger. Ruger will most likely ask you to send it in and they will replace the entire mechanism. They did this for me when my trigger acted up.
