Ruger D/a revolvers

WHat is it about the grip angle of a Ruger D/a that makes it feel like the barrel is pointing downward as you hold it in firing position? S&W and Colts do not give this illusion to the shooter.

my hands vs your hands

Oddly (?) I much prefer the feel of my GP100s and Redhawks.

They all wear Pachmayr Decelerators.
I shoot them double action.

You really believe that every gun feels the same to different shooters?

I've found that my sp101 points nice and straight..... with the stock grips. When I installed a Hogue MonoGrip on it, the gun most definitely pointed downward, so much so that I took them off and went back to stock.

Perhaps it is the Hogue Grips that people install or come with, new, on the larger DA revolvers from Ruger now? Because the rubber with insert grip points excellent in my opinion.

I've never noticed it. Maybe it's not the revolver but your holding grip? Every make is different as are we . . . you don't say how long you've had it so maybe it's a case of just training yourself and your muscles to the revolver? If it's a real problem, my suggestion would be to have an experienced shooter stand back and watch you and your hold and see if they can spot something that you don't? At times, I've done that and it's amazing the things that another person can spot that you can change to help that you aren't even aware that you are doing. I had that happen a few weeks ago at a range class I was taking. I was and have had trouble with one of my semis on coming back to point of aim after a shot to get a second one off quickly - the instructor was a former Marine Corps Special Ops and a Swat Team member - a fantastic marksman. My second shots were always hitting low with this particular handgun - in fifteen minutes he had that problem corrected and it was all in my hold.

I dunno, the GP100 is a very natural pointer for me, especially with the old style rubber with inserts.

Dittos. Went back to using mine for a nightstand gun because I can shoot it well in dim light without being able to see the sights.

The grip angle definatelly pulls. barrel downward for me! I don;t get that hold from a 'Smith or a Colt.
Each of us has different hand structure and naturally.this would cause such a grip difference between shooters.
I just wondered if there was any sort of "mechanical" difference such as the degrees of grip angle...
Thanks for the replys.

For me, there is no gun that balances as well or points more naturally than a GP100 (maybe a Hi-Power is close) with smith revolvers I always feel like I aim low actually, and since I already have a tendency to shoot low-left I don't shoot S&W revolvers very well. I seriously don't know how a 6" GP100 feels so light, balanced and pointable...

So I have the opposite problem!

I don't notice anything but the position of the front sight relative to the target and rear sight with the focal point on the front sight. I would have to attempt to notice anything else and that would break concentration so I don't.
