Ruger Cougar

Does anyone remember back in the early 80's a conversion to the Ruger and Smith and Wesson with a Colt Python barrel called the Cougar and Smolt? I had such a revolver (Stainless Security Six with a 6" Python barrel), a really fine shooter, but sold it about 3 years ago to make way for a few Glocks. Sometimes I really miss the Revolver Days, especially when you didn"t have to chase your brass.

viet68, I guess nobody wants to deal with this issue, and reveal their age.
I would. but I don't remember that gun... :)

I sent my stainless 4" bull barrel (so called by Ruger at the time) to a company in the PRK (CA.). They matched the stainless up with a 6" Python barrel sans the front site. I spent the next 3 months trying to find a Python front site before I shot it. Before I sent it off, I did install a set of Pachmayers on it, but it still would not tame the recoil from those .357 mags. I hardly shot the gun with magnums, just .38 specials. Sold or traded all of my revolvers in past few years (except a nickel Dick Special) and traded up for Glocks. I love the 9mm (reloads mainly for fun and cost). Just bougt a CPO Sig for a fantastic price. I am thinking about ordering one more.
There is holster wear but the gun shoots fantastic. Nite sites are 75% gone but Brite sights for $3.00 and a set of Hogues Non finger and this gun really shoots. The only problem, I now have to load for 3 guns and shoot 1/3 more. Any one interested in a Sig 226 for $389.95 can PM me. The company only has 20 left.

I remember........

But I preferred my Security Sixes remain such :D

(If memory serves the first examples done were "Cougars", but as more were 'smithed we got "Smolts" and "Smythons".)
