Ruger Convertable?

I have two in .45 Colt/.45 ACP. Here they are:

Incantations have been spoken and money expended over them.

They are super guns with my handloads. But seldom use the ACP cylinders. If you've got a plethora of ACP brass, fine. Otherwise the .45 Colt gets the most use from me.

I have two of the Buckeye convertibles in 38-40/10mm. Totally different cartridges: the 38-40 is soft shooting and fun, while the 10mm is a hard hitting thumper.

Bought the first one and loved it. Saw a second one on sale about 3 years later and picked it up, too. They only made about 9K of these pistols.
 
If you're talking Single Six, get one. They're a great gun. They're not match-accurate, but mine will take a shotgun shell off a plate shelf at 20 yards. They kill squirrels dead.
 
I own a 357/9mm Ruger Black hawk. I love the revolver. I shoot mostly 9mm because its cheap. I don't reload. I did own a single six convertible but sold it. Its also a very nice revolver. I can' say anything bad about the convertible series of Ruger.

My wife and I debated on which insecticide to buy, one that "Kills bug dead" or the one that "Kills bugs up to three weeks."

My single-six always goes into my range bag. I find it plenty accurate for what I do. Have only shot 100 rounds of .22Mag in mine when I first got it just to see if it 'worked'. .22LR is all I shoot out of mine. Lots of fun! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend a single-six. Last you several life-times or more too!
 
I have one of the 'special edition' stainless Flattop medium framed Blackhawk convertibles in 45 Colt/45ACP.
Love that revolver and is also very accurate...

I'm going to try my own version of a convertible today. I loaded some Berry's 230 round nosed bullets (.452) that my 1911 loves into some colt cases today.

I haven't tried them yet but I'll fix that in a few hours. Off to the range!

The Single Six convertible is one of the GREAT values in handguns. You will need to sight in Long Rifle or Magnum, and then see where the other caliber hits. They wont both shoot to the same point of aim. But the idea of having one revolver that shoots both cartridges is a great idea. The Long Rifle accuracy will suffer somewhat because the barrel is optimized for the larger diameter bullet of the 22 Mag, but practical accuracy with Long Rifle is still excellent. I get 2" groups, rested at 25 yards, from a 5.5" Single Six with open sights and Long Rifle.
