This little guy really spoke to me in the Pawn Shop. I went there to pick up a used 870 youth 20 ga and saw this in the cabinet, so it was a on a whim purchase. I slapped on a Bushnell TRS-25 red dot, bore sighted it, and took it to the range for 25 yard sight in---and boy was I completely disappointed. Using Remington Golden Bullet (525 pack, 36 gr.), Winchester 40 grain, and Aguila 30 gr. rounds I was never close to zeroing this pistol. I tried zeroing in the order I listed the rounds, and it was not until the Aguila that I saw a consistent pattern start to emerge. Of five shots, two would be 3" @ 11 o'clock and the other three would be tightly grouped 6" down at 5 o'clock. First thing suspected was a faulty red dot. I went home and noticed the Bushnell manual was poorly written. 1st off it doesn't say what 1 click equals (its 1/2 moa / click) and it doesn't say that ccw is UP and Right. ( the dial indicators arrows were gone ) The only thing it did say--- and it said it very prominently --- was "Do NOT Overtighten" (the mount). Well, in retrospect, I had not followed that directive. Now, I did not put my dumb-dumb strength on it, but they clearly state " tighten until resistance is felt, then 1/4 turn, maybe 1/2" . I grabbed a brick of Wichester white box 36 gr. and some Eley Tenex and my shooting bags and headed back to the range. The problem was determined to be the bipod. Once removed and on the bag, this thing drives tacks. Put on the bipod, I again got the afore mentioned two distinct unacceptably spread groups. Hmmm... Ultimately, this is another fine Ruger product, sans the bipod. The mystery is how is it doing this...is it the bipod, the use of a bipod on this short of a pistol, or my technique with the bipod? Anyone else have one of these? BTW, I new the the golden bullets were not accurate, but everything else ammo performed as expected.
