I have a 4 3/4 barrel Ruger Blackhawk with no front sight. There is a hole for a screw but not very deep. I need a front sight and screw I guess. Any help appreciated

.

I feel confident that a call to Ruger's Service/Parts Dept, with your needs & a credit card # would hook you right up.

It could be soldered but it seems to have a tapped hole. According to the serial # I have a Old Model that was made back around 72-73. I have the # for Ruger and will call today. Thanks

Ruger won't have a screw-on sight tall enough for your gun. Blackhawks never had a screw-on front sight. Except perhaps the 10" Supers. Your gun was probably a 7½" that someone cut back and just tapped a hole. You'll have to procure one somewhere else or have a gunsmith fit one.

Some Ruger Blackhawk sights have a drilled hole (not tapped) probably with the intention of using a threaded stud for proper alignment when replacing the front sight.

Never seen such myself, just from eavesdropping on posts on another forum. I do know the .45 Colt is the one most often furnished with front sights that are too short, and Ruger does offer taller ones.

You guys are smart. It's a pin not a taped hole. The assembly should be shipped in 7 to 10 days. $15

Thanks

Silver solder and this is not typically the job for someone who's never done it before. Then again, neither is drilling & tapping for screws.
