Ruger Blackhawk .44 mag

Brand new New Model your looking at around $550 -$650 or so depending on type... So if in good shape, I'd think $400 to $450....

Are you talking New Model or Three Screw? An unmodified Three Screw will bring a premium, around $700 ~ $800.

At a recent Gun Show here in Memphis, I traded a S & W Model 29 (valued at $700) even for this Super Blackhawk Three Screw:

Do some research and figure out what model he has, if you're looking for a good shooter and he is a friend I'd pay a good price and neither of you will be disappointed. I've owned two and currently have a super blackhawk bisley hunter. I had to loose the 50th anniversary new model blackhawk since the radius above the grips would bite me with heavy loads. I must not be attending the right gun shows because I've never seen one here in kansas in good shape go for $350, must be more demand here since its the carry gun of choice by our ranchers.

I think the first question you should ask is whether it is a Blackhawk or Super Blackhawk. If it is a Super, then the next question is New Model or Old Model.

All SBHs are BHs in .44Mag. The Super word was just a 'marketing' ploy back in '59' when the new 'grip' frame and ears were deployed on the o' .44. Yes, the Old Model 'flattops' were called BHs, but still the same frame, same cylinder. Same with the Bisley .44Mag is still a BH. Anyway.... As said above, is it a New Model or Old Model? Made a difference on pricing.

I lucked up on one from a older man who bought it and after 6 shots he had to go to the doctor for a jamed wrist. I got the gun , holster and 44 rounds of ammo for $200.00. That was 27 years ago and I still have it.

Regular Blackhawk newer model. Its like 7 or 8 years old i wanna guess? If thats considered newer, it is to me...

If you don't have one I would recomend one . My favorit hand gun was a Black Hawk .44 Mag . It had real stag grips hand made and shot well . To look at it you could mistake it as Marshal Dillons Colt at first glance . I did a stupid and traded it off . Would cost several Hundred $ to set one like that up now .

There is a big difference in pricing between a .44 Blackhawk and a Super Blackhawk. That is my point. Especially if the .44 Blackhawk happened to be a 7.5" version. Or if the Super were an OM with a 6.5" barrel. Or is a white box Super. The devil (or value) is in the details.
Since it is a NM, $350 - 400 is about right.

Ya its just a regular Blackhawk. certainly a super solidly built revolver tho... Thx for all the info

Are you saying you have a New Model .44 Magnum Ruger New Model Flat Top?

My recollection of Ruger .44 Magnums are they are either the Flat Top (Three Screw or New Model) or they are Super Blackhawk, Three Screw or New Model.

I don't recall Ruger ever marketing a plain Blackhawk in .44 Magnum with the protected rear sight assembly. I'd sure like to see photos of that gun if is indeed a New Model .44 Magnum with the ribbed top strap.

When Dirty Harry movies were all the rage, S&W 29's were hard to find, a few years later and the pawn shops were full of them that had only a few rounds through them. Magnum recoil isn't for everybody. Let us know which model BH your's is 3 screw or new model?

As a matter of interest, I was on another thread and learned a few Super Blackhawks were made that just bore the inscription "Blackhawk" as thse frames were the only ones available to fill a factory need. Despite the marking, they are indeed Super Blackhawks.
