Ruger Announces New LCRx Models

Nice to see them really getting behind the LCRx, I figured after the .22 LCRx came out months ago they would.

But... the .22 Magnum. It's still just a 6 shot and the issues that many commented about with the .22 LR model will be even more problematic in the .22 Mag due to the blast and recoil.

I'm still waiting for the .327 in 3 inch.
 
Yeahya! I've been wanting to get a 22WMR revolver for a few months now, and I like the LCRx. I guess the Lort is answerin mah prayers! lol
 
I guess I have to step up to the plate now, I said I was waiting for an LCRX in 327. I would perfer a 3" barrel with adj sights but I guess this will do for a pocket gun. Alot cheaper than the S&W options and will be a great light weight option. Thanks Ruger for listening to our request.

I wonder how bad the POI will be with 32H&R & 32L?
 
I'm with Smee on this one. The 327 is really what I have been waiting for. The caveats already mentioned (3" barrel / adjustable sights) are on point but this is probably enough to push me into it. Any word on when they might hit the streets?
 
I really enjoy my 3" .38 and .22LR, so the WMR might find its way into my closet. Although my old 3" Charter Arms Pathfinder in .22WMR weighs nearly the same (and has a better DA than the LCRx .22), it might could use a rest.
 
The 2" seems to me to be a ridiculous barrel length for 327 Fed Mag, probably best at home in a rifle. Should be a nice lady's gun in 32 H&R.
 
327 Fed Mag out of a 2" barrel is pointless. It is only marginally better than 32 ACP. Not kidding here. Tested 32SW, 32SWL, 32HRM, 327FM, & 32ACP out of one of my Taurus M327's and performance was marginally different between Long, HR, 327, & ACP.

Would love to see the LCRx 9mm with a slightly longer barrel for cheap plinking.

Speer Gold Dot 115 gr 327 Federal out of an LCR 327 in actual test has muzzle velocity of 1252 fps for a muzzle energy of 400 ft lbs.

American Eagle 100 gr rnsp at 1369 fps for a muzzle energy of 416 ft lbs.

There is also a 100 gr gold dot what is the ballistic twin of the American Eagle round, but wasn't tested in this review.

These were fired out of an LCR 327 with 1.87" barrel.

If you know of a 32 acp that will get those ballistics, let me know what it is.
 
Don't believe everything you read. Things might have improved in the last year or two but before that, 327 from 2" was around 38 Spl. Not trying to turn this into a caliber war or hijack the thread.

Well I for one applaud Ruger for trying to offer something new.


I think offering the 3" .38 Special and .22lr is a great move on their part. I'm not upset to see the other calibers as well.




I often forget about the newer offerings. I think maybe Ruger should market them more aggresively. If the price is reasonable they should be selling a boatload of them.

It is.

Shorter barrels are down on velocity a bit (as are .38 Spcl and .357 Mag), but it typically makes 1,350 - 1,500 fps from a 3" barrel (85-100 gr bullets).
I find the 4.2" and 5.5" barrels to be more fun (SP101 6-shot, GP100 7-shot, and Blackhawk 8-shot), but the 1-7/8" LCR that I have is still plenty useful and a good CC option.
