Ruger American COMPACT Pistol Announced

A good chance I will buy on of these to try. The full size fit my hand much better than a Glock with the small grip module. Haven't found anyone with one in stock or expects to receive one.

I'm quite impressed with my SR9 Compact. The gun fits me well, and has a very nice trigger, plus a thumb safety.

The American Compact faces it's greatest competition from the SR9 C, in my little collection. The American will have to be a definite improvement on the SR9 Compact, to actually be purchased.

I like the size and capacity over the SR9c (just a bit too small for my tastes). I would be very interested if I was not already entrenched in Glocks (gear, mags, etc) for EDC.

Probably won't unless I see one for a killer deal some day.

I found those two pistols to be much different designs. I have little interest in an SR 9C.

American 9 compact

We just got some in yesterday, and I like the grip and trigger much better on the American -compared to the SR9C.

Ruger should change their name to UGLY pistols. I will keep my brand X 9mm It shoots well and not near as ugly .
2 losers , this and their new pocket 380

Have been watching these on gunbroker. Price seems to be plummeting. Not unusual for a new desgn, but this seems to be happening faster than I have seen in the past. Possibly just having sufficient supply to the market which seems to be abnormal. Afraid it may be they are not selling.

I like the larger manual safety on the carry one than the SR9c. I'm sure I am wrong but it always appeared hard to find a good manual safety on a non-1911 double column pistol.

In spite of my earlier post, I now own one!

I'll be at the range tomorrow, comparing the American Compact to the SR9 Compact, to the Glock 19, to anything else I bring along.

Yeah, well, that American slide is rather angular. I mean, it is all straight edges and flat surfaces. It reminds me of General Heinz Guderian's armored half-tracks. In fact, I'm sure the Ruger American designers are fans of German armored vehicles.

Yea, once you say that I can really see it. Homomag city! I wonder if thats an easier manufacturing process.

How does the grip feel vs. an SR-9c? I always thought they were excellent grips and looked good (just had issues with the California style capacity vs. comps).
