NEW RIFLE

My sister got one of these for her birthday this year, except hers is chambered in .44 magnum. Her husband installed a 1-4 power kahles compact scope in a set of leupold bases & low rings.----she really likes it !!!!!

Overall the article is quite good and I keep thinking if I want to buy one or not. Would make a really sweet SBR. I already have my integrally suppressed 77/44 though.

Not to mention the .357 Magnum round comparatively is cheap to 44 mag, .40 and other ballistically similar “Magnum” cartridges and is of course less expensive than semi-auto rifle calibers.
9mm and 40 are cheaper. This one is really just a nitpick.

The Ruger 77/357 is based on the rugged time tested and proven Mauser style Ruger 77 design currently offered in a number of calibers from .17 to .44 Magnum.
The design has virtually nothing in common with a Mauser or the 77 Mark II series. The action is rear locking, the case head is not fully supported (not a problem with the cartridges chambered.), and it uses a different extractor design.

About the only thing in common with a Mauser is a 3 position safety.

Obviously the 77/357 is based on the proven Mauser style Mark 77 Ruger action
See above.

I do wish someone would come out with high capacity magazines such as those found on the 10/22 and 77/22 which share the same rotary magazine design.
WANT!!!

Thanks for the link.

Yeah, the Safety is about the only carry over. I forgot the 77/X are a sub derivation of the M77 which was more of a Mauser style.

In my neck of the woods .40 are typcically more than .38/.357 rounds.

Thanks for the feedback.

I have a 77/44 and love it.

No 77/357's have showed up at my usual sources yet, but i will definitely pick one up to supplement my lever action 357's.

I agree with the request for 10 round mags - any mfr's out there?
