Ruger 77 22 scope mounting problems

I just bought a new Ruger 77 22 rifle in .22 LR from local gun shop. It came with one magazine and no scope rings. So I bought some after market scope rings online. One of these rings is higher than the other ring. There is about a 3mm gap between the scope tube and the base of the front ring. I mounted the scope in accordance with his video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gM7JKQJoUgQ
As a result the scope is pointing down and the rifle shoots about a yard high at 25 yards? So what can I do to fix this issue? Did I get the right scope rings or the rings for the 77 22 different than for model 77 centre fire rifles?

I believe you will find that the 77/22, 77/22mag and 77/22Hornet "RimFire", take the front and rear rings that are the same heigth. Utube video you are refering to is not a 77/22 but a M77/Mark-II. Depending on your front bell size, you will have to determine your proper heigth. The reason for the step or no step, should be obvious but I can understand your confusion. ....

Yep, you have rings for the wrong Ruger.

Model 77 centerfires utilize rings that have a bottom half of unequal thickness, to compensate for the difference in receiver ring and receiver bridge heights/diameters.

Model 77/22 etc rimfires have rings with equal thickness bottom halves, because the top of their receivers are level.
