I dont know if anyone else has this problem but.... When I shoot my Ruger 454 I almost always get bit by the grip in the palm of my off hand/supporting hand, as I place it below my shooting hand, and let the shooting hand rest in the palm of my off hand while gripping my shooting hand with the off hand. Anyway, I almost always come home with a blood blister after shooting it. Last night I decided to investigate the problem. There is a rather pronounced corner to the rubber grip, at the rear of the grip, on the bottom. Its almost sharp with the hardness of the bottom corner. I decided it was in my best interest to round this bottom corner on both sides of the rear of the grip, much as you would alter a recoil pad on a butt stock. It worked very well, you cant even tell theres been a modification unless you really know your stuff. I'll let you know how this works to alleviate the blood blisters, after the one I have now heals, and I take the gun shooting this weekend, if not sooner. Has anyone else experienced this sharp corner biting them?
I just got back from shooting this after the mod., and I have a success, no pain, no blister, and the old ones arent even healed completely yet. I'm a happy camper again.
