Ruger 44 Bisley

I just picked up a Ruger Bisley Super Blackhawk mod in 44 mag with the white imitation ivory grips. Oh this gun is beautiful! My question is! do you Bisley shooters think the bisley grip is more shooter friendly than the old hog leg style grip. I have other ruger blackhawk guns. But this Bisley grip feels really nice.

The Bisley grip frame seems to be a love/hate deal.

I love mine :D
To me it just seems to be more shootable, both before and after the shot.

My next Ruger SA might just be a Bisley model. I fired a 357 Bisley with magnum loads and found the grip to be very comfortable. Also fired a 45 LC Bisley - again very comfortable to shoot , although the 45 loads were standard loads. Would love to shoot one in 44 mag !

I have one of the SS Bisleys in .45 Colt and several NMBHs in .45 Colt. With appropriate grips, I don't see much difference between them in recoil tolerence. Appropriate grips are very important, at least for me. For the Bisley, I had to find grips which got my knuckle out of the way. Those grips turned out to be Eagle gunfighter grips, no checkering. For the NMBH, I also like thin, smooth grips with the sharp lower edge removed. I can do this on a belt sander to the standard Ruger grips.
Grips for you will be based on personal preference. They will also be related to your hand size and how you hold the gun.

Thanks guys for the imput. I have not shot the gun yet. I love my Blackhawks but this Bisley grip frame feels so nice.

I really loved the way the Bisley felt the one time that I got to shoot one. My buddy brought his Bisley in .357 mag to the mountains and we shot the snot out of it. Full house .357 mag loads were comfortable to shoot and I was deadly accurate with it.

I fairly recently acquired my first Bisley in .41 mag. I too like the way it handled although I did find myself shooting a little high during my one time only informal shooting session with it.
I don't know if that is due to the grip, the way I held it or my reloads.
I'm sure after more shooting and sight adjustment it will become a favorite, they look pretty good too.

I like the Bisley grip so much, that I converted my Blackhawk into a Bis-Hawk.

It really helps make "heavy" loads at lot easier to shoot.
