Ruger 357 blackhawk convertible

I am interested in the Ruger Black hawk convertible 357 to 9mm. Is it necessary to use "moon clips " after the cylinder is changed to 9mm?

My gun store guy told me that. Unfortunately there wasn't one in stock to see.

Greeting's Joe,

I don't think that moon clips are necessary; cuz if that is
the case, the Ruger Blackhawk Convertible's sure didn't
come with them included in the box.

When I owned mine back in the 70's, I was too wrapped
up shooting .38 Special and .357 Magnum loads out of it;
so I never got around to trying the 9m/m cylinder.

The blackhawk is a SA revolver. The cylinder doesn't swing out like the GP or SP does. Moon clips would be difficult to use. Would have to open loading gate, pull cylinder pin and remove cylinder to uses them (after you have a gunsmith set up for it).

IIRC, the 9mm just drops in and will catch at the case mouth. Much easier.
