Well, I just shot my brand spankin' new Ruger .30 Carbine Blackhawk at the range yesterday evening. What a hoot ! Although I realize some of you who have posted comments about this revolver indicate there is really no practicle reason to own one, I have to disagree. I'm not really a handgun hunter (although I have dropped a wild boar and barbarosa ram with my customized Ruger Super Blackhawk), preferring to shoot for the fun of it, and the .30 carbine is a heck of a lot of fun to shoot. Something about 4 foot muzzle flashes, and deafening muzzle blast, coupled with moderate recoil, makes for an interesting time at the range. At least for some of us .....

I have had one of these for over 20 years. I don't shoot it often, but it is always fun. Practical? maybe not. Fun, darn right!!!

I had an old three-screw years ago. Sold it after I bought a chronograph and found that 110 grain bullets were leaving the muzzle at 1,400 FPS. This is the exact same velocity I was getting out my hot .38 Special loads with 110 grain bullets from a 4" M10.
