Ruger #3 in a #1 stock

I have a Ruger #3 in 45-70, will it fit in a Ruger #1 stock and fore end? I want to restock it with a more shooter friendly stock, I am looking for suggestions.

The wood will fit just fine, just select a forearm that fits your barrel diameter (obviously not the 1-V or 1-H forearm)

I have Ruger "#2" just like what you are describing. I didn't install the wood myself, found the complete gun on one of the on-line auction sites and had to have it.

The Ruger "#2" is a description I heard applied to these #3 with #1 wood guns.

Not an official model name, just a phrase someone else coined.
