Ruger 22 Hornet--2 piece bolt?

Big Caliber

While doing research on a Ruger 22 Hornet I'm thinking of buying, I stumbled upon an article about fixing a "sloppy" 2 piece bolt. What's the theory behind a 2 piece bolt? Are there any real advantages to it, or was
Ruger just trying to save some $$$? I did a search on the subject on these forums but came up empty. The rifle shot laser straight for me, one ragged 5 shot hole at 100yds. Thanks in advance for any constructive input.

bolt

Sir;
Remington (mod. 700) has a 3 piece bolt! The Ruger mod. 77 has a one piece bolt and the Ruger 77/22 and other calibers on this action I believe have a two piece bolt.
Several military rifles have assembled bolts - it's not to save money, they just didn't have lost wax casting then accurate enough to do what the do now (or CNC).

Rimfire bolts almost all are 2 piece. The rear rotates to lock the bolt closed. The front usually has 2 deep grooves that the magazine lips fit through, while the center part between the grooves pushes the cartridge from the magazine. This front part can't turn because of the grooves and magazine lips.

The Ruger 77/22 Hornet is a modified 22 rimfire action which works the same way to push the cartridge from the magazine.

Official Constructive Input: That is outstanding shooting for a Hornet. They should all be so "sloppy." I have known several people who struggled to get even fairly good accuracy out of a Hornet.

Jim Watson... I can't figure out how to use the quotes yet, but I too have heard that the Hornet can be a difficult round to work with. That's why I was amazed at how this one shot. It's hard for me to pass up a rifle that shoots this well. Hopefully I can duplicate the recipe for the load.:)

shoot

Sir;
You know, most of my small caliber rifles seem to shoot better at max. book than lower - especially a 222 I had!
