Is The Ruger MK III 22/45 legal for bullseye competion with the 6 7/8" barrel? I think that it has something to do with the sight radius but, I don't have one available to measure. I own a the 5.5" barrel.

Thanks.

As noted, it is legal. As long as the barrel is less than 10" it is competition legal. Is it necessary to have a long barrel? No. If you are intending to shoot using iron sights, however, then the longer barrel will provide a longer sight radius which may help accuracy. Nowadays many, maybe most, Bullseye shooters are using red dot sights and the need for long sight radii is not a factor.
One of the most successful Bullseye .22s, the Hammerli 208, has a 150mm (about six inches) barrel. Another very successful pistol, the H-S Victor has a 5.5 inch barrel.

I shot one in bullseye last year and had good results with Wolf match target ammo. I went to a 41 Smith for this year but all the 22/45 needed was a trigger job and it would have bee fine.
