I am buying my son a Ruger 10/22 for a Christmas present.
Money is kind of on the tight side, so I do not want to go overboard. I just need a reliable scope that is not overly expensive and some rings to match. I do not want a big hulking scope, but something that sits nice on top and has a low profile.

I bought a POS Tasco 3-9 for something like $40 and stuck on my 10/22. The optics are fair and it doesn't do a very good job of light gathering, but it does hold zero good. For what I use it for it works just fine, I sure wouldn't stick this scope on anything other than a .22 though. You get what you pay for in optics, ever heard that before?:)

Did I mention it is a POS?

Yes Muleshoe, I have heard that phrase before, and with all the bolt rifles I have ever owned, all of them had Leupold riding on top. I guest I need to rephrase what I need. What is best, cheapest POS out there dollar for dollar? My son only plans shooting at squirrels, rabbits, and maybe a few beer cans, and heck, maybe a milk jug or two.

Try S.W.F.A.

So, you're looking for the creme de la POS-creme, eh? ;)

Here is a good source for demo's and other scopes on sale: http://www.samplelist.com/ . Notice the deal on the Bushnell Sportview scopes. I'm not personally familiar with those scopes, but I generally hear good things about Bushnell.

Their main site is here: http://www.riflescopes.com/ .

A friend told me about this company, and it seems to be a great source.

Good luck in your search. Regards from AZ

I have a 10\22 and couldn't afford alot for a scope.
So I did some shopping around and found that the
Simmons 4x32 power pro mag. is one of the best scope
for a .22 out there. And it only around $60 bucks.
Super clear and dead on.

Were it me, I would just buy plain ol' Weaver rings and put a Tasco 4X on it. Another scope than comes to mind is Swift. They're economical, and a little better than Tasco (in my opinion) and if they break you take 'em to your dealer and they give you a new one on the spot. I have only seen them in Idaho, though, and I don't know what parts of the country you might find them in.
