Ruger 10/22 magnum

I know that Ruger stopped making these several years ago. I have been researching building one for my self. The problem seems to be the number of companies that are building receivers for this configuration. You can find a number of companies that are making receivers in the 22lr configuration, but very few for the 22WMR.

Does anyone have a recommendation of which companies are making magnum receivers and related parts. Or should I just pack it in and get the Remington 22 Mag in semi-auto or is there a better choice than that? Marlin?

For less than the cost of a 10/22 Magnum receiver from Volquartsen you can buy a whole Ruger 10/22 Magnum. Not to mention that once you buy that receiver, you are still a long way from being even close to done building the rifle.

I had an HK 330 22WMR semiauto. It was the cat's meow.

One issue with 22WMR rifles is the cost of the ammo and the relatively insignificat gain over a 22LR. But I like my 22 Mags, and I know many others who feel the same way.

Rethinking 22 Mag Rifle

You are right. I think the idea of making MY custom rifle built by ME kind of led me around by the nose for a few days. Sadly sanity has returned and I think I will find me a 22 WMR semi-auto already assembled and test fired by a company that I can trust. Does anyone have one of the following or got to shoot it, and what do you think of it?

MAGNUM LITE® MLR-1722M .22WMR Graphite Rifle http://www.magnumresearch.com/Browse.asp

Other than Remington 597 and the Marlin 922 and 883? I am not finding many semi-auto 22 WMRs.

22 mag semiautos are a little hard to find. Ruger 10/22 Magnums are available occasionally, but prices are getting a little stupid, IMO. After all, it's just a Ruger production rifle.

Volquartsen makes a really nice rifle, don't get me wrong. If you are price sensitive, their prices will give you hives.

Magnum Research rifles are pretty nice, at about half the price of the Volquartsen. Probably shoots almost as well.
