Ruger 10/22 Feed Problem

I have an older (1974) 10/22 that feeds great with factory magazines but it won't work with any after market ones. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

10 rounds handles all the hunting I do, 10 rounds will take down any 3 people I've met. Nothing wrong with factory mags that I can see. But then I'm a grumpy old f*ck.

I agree with you all about just using the factory magazines. I tend to go with the flow and they work just fine.

A buddy gave me the other magazines. My son was itching to use the 20(?) round magazine that was in the group so I was hoping to"fix" the problem.

Have a wonderful Christmas and a great new year.

Well what kind of ammo are you useing? I had an old Ruger and it would feed fine except those Federals with the pointed cone nose from a Ram Line mag. Actually I had several of the Ram Lines in the old days. Some on here despise them but the ones I got worked great with standard round nose bullets HP or solid. Maybe you have one that is worn or out of tolerance. Try it also with a clean gun. Only banana mag I ever had that would not work, was some kind of imported thing that was steel. It needed a plate stuck in the mag well, and the mag clipped into that. WOuld not feed anything. But now I only have factory mags. You can get clips that will hold together 2 or 4 factory mags for rapid reloading. The plastic banana mags can get dirty inside too. I know of no easy way to clean them except with a ultrasonic cleaner, except to clean built up crud off the feed lips inside and out, and the follower.
