Rugar 22/45 trigger job

I bought a trigger kit for mine and dropped it off with my gunsmith, I should get it back today or tomorrow. I can't wait to shoot it.

I just got to test drive one of these the other day... I like the stock trigger. Was there a problem with yours?

It was pretty crisp and not to heavy. If I was going to buy the one I was shooting I wouldn't change it.

P.S.

I'm not a Ruger fan boy, but the 22/45 is a very well done pistol.

The trigger on mine was very heavy, gritty and a lot of creep. I didn't like it at all. Maybe I just got one that was poorer than others. Even my gunsmith said it was not Rugar usual quality.
A guy at our club had and and said the same thing about his and he put a Volquartsen trigger in his and loved it. He let me shoot his and what a huge difference it made.

I put a Volquartzen trigger kit in my 22/45 a few years ago. It started off at around 2.5 pounds. After a couple thousand rounds, it's now settled in at around 2 pounds. It's perfectly safe, but be forewarned. When I shoot a few mags in a pistol with say a 5 pound trigger, then pick up the 22/45, the first couple shots are interesting until I adapt to it.

I have a 22/45 also. The factory trigger was not very good. gritty and too hard. I put a sear and hammer in it but cant remember where it came. I drilled and tapped the factory trigger and put a set screw in it to take up some of the slack and now it has a very nice trigger. It didn't cost a lot of $$ either. Very happy with it now.

A good trigger definitely makes a difference.
But it seems that the more ya' focus on the shooting instead of the gun, the less important some modifications become.
And like Mike38 experienced, lots of use can help at least as much as replacing parts.
Both by the shooter getting used to the gun and by wearing in of the parts.
I've only redone triggers on two pistols.
One absolutely needed it due to faulty parts and the second one benefited more from proper lubrication than from the modifications.

I haven't received it back yet from my gunsmith, I'll post an update when I shoot it.
My S&W model 19 has a 3.5 lb trigger which I like a lot and my Gold Cup has a 3 lb trigger. I am hoping I will like the new trigger in my 22/45 and it won't be too light.
