Rubber grips on a hunter

I wanted to put rubber grips(hogue or pachmayr) on my sbh hunter, which has the same grip frame size as the sbh with the square(dragoon) trigger guard.I see that the grips look like their molded to the back of that trigger guard and I'm thinking that there might be some kind of gap between the grip and the trigger guard. Has anyone else ever tried this?

The grips force your middle finger from behind the triggerguard thus saving them from that smack you can get. Even if there's a small gap the purpose of the grips have been accomplished. May not be pleasing to the eye, but fully functional.

Majic is right about them being ugly but effective. I put Pachmayer grips on my early new model SBH when I worked up some hot loads for whitetail hunting.
They took the sting out of the hot loads and for me they are good feeling grips. Works well as these and a red dot I've taken several deer from 50 to 75 yards, the limit of my comfort zone.

hogue or pachmayr

...depending on the caliber; your recoil sensitivity and, your personal preference is the way to go.
I have replaced all my "factory" grips with Pachmayr except, for one.

Im going to give the pachmayrs a try. At least there not too expensive. I was just concerned with the grips being made for square triiger guard and my hunter has a round trigger guard. Shot 66 .44mag rounds at the range the other day and my hand was toast.

I have been looking to buy a ruger SBH hunter. How do you like it. I was also going to put pachmyr grips on them. After you put them on yours, post them up and let us know yours shoots with them on.
