Rubber grips for a Model 60-15Pro?

I've got a S&W60-15Pro 3" J-frame. They come with square-butt wood grips. When I shoot a lot of (even mild .38) rounds, the middle knuckle of my middle finger gets sore from being whopped by the rear of the trigger guard during (even mild) recoil. The reason is that the shape of the top front of those grips is horizontal, and it directs the middle finger right into the rear of the trigger guard during recoil. Oddly enough, the much smaller Hogue Bantam grips on my S&W360sc are shaped better (sloped downward) at the top front of the grips, and direct the middle finger toward the bottom of the trigger guard during recoil ... no battering.

Does anyone have any experience with rubber grips that will fit the Model 60-15Pro (or probably(?) any version of the Model 60) that would solve my battering problem? (I don't want to put the Bantams on it, because I'd prefer to have a place for my little finger to go.)

Any advice much appreciated.

I really like the Bantams on my 340PD, but never tried them on my 60-10. I've had good luck with the stock rubber grips that came on the 60-10, but this gun is not in my carry rotation. It is worn in an OWB holster as a convenient field gun mostly.

Those stock rubber grips on your Model 60 DO look like they would be better for my battering problem than the stock wood grips on my 60-15Pro ... the top front of your grips angle downward toward the bottom of the trigger guard ... on mine, that area is horizontal, and leads right to the vertical rear edge of the trigger guard, causing the battering.

Does S&W sell those grips? Or does anyone else? Do you know who actually makes them?

I put Pachmayr Compac grips on my Model 36 and it made shooting .38s pretty comfortable, especially compared to the skinny wood stockers. I haven't shot it in a while but don't recall any knuckle busting. Now if you're looking for concealment the Pachs probably aren't your grip, especially if you want to pocket carry, but you probably wouldn't want to do that with the 3" anyway. So maybe they would work for IWB.

Those pictured are the Uncle Mike's Combat Grip. I think they were stock grips used by S&W once upon a time. Are no longer. Good luck finding them -- they're well worth finding.

Go to the S&W site a look under rubber grips. You will find a very similar grip. If you don't like them they will take them back. Also search Pachmar, Hogue, etc.

Thanks ... I see them. They are very similar to your stock ones ... the downward slant at the top front might not go down quite as far as yours, but it's very close to the same.

Are yours very hard rubber, or slightly soft, like the Hogue bantams?

The other alternative that looks pretty good to me is the Hogue Monogrip S&W J-Frame round butt. Downward slope not as pronounced as yours, but they're larger (and softer, I think), and so might relieve the battering.

I would say they are similar to a Bantum. After about 5 shots with full bore 125 or 158gr 357s you can feel them, but +Ps are a pleasure to shoot.

I used to have the same exact 3" model 60 that shooter posted which came with those Uncle Mikes 3 finger grips, which are no longer made by the way. While they were comfy and and helped absorb some recoil, since I carried the gun I did go to Uncle Mikes rubber boot grips. S&W makes the same style grip, though I am not a fan at all of the material they now use compared to the old Uncle Mike grips they used to put on the guns. I would look at Hogue's J frame mono grips, I am a big fan of Hogue products and have them on several of my guns including my AR and Shotgun.

How are the newer ones different? Harder rubber? Did the newer ones batter your middle finger more than the originals?

I've also liked all the Hogue's I've had, most recently a X500 recoil-absorbing monogrip for my S&W69 .44mag. The J-Frame mono looks like a scaled-down version of the X500, so I AM leaning that way. But it may be a bit harder to conceal than the new stock grips on non-Pro Model 60's (the copies of the original Uncle Mike's).

I received the Hogue monogrip, installed it, and it feels and looks REALLY good. Haven't shot it yet, but I think I'm going to like it a lot.

I also ordered the stock rubber Model 60 grips (just to hedge my bets), but they haven't even been shipped yet.

I put Pachmar Deceleraters on two model 60's. They really helped especially on the 5" which really kicked. It got an extra 300 fps out of factory ammo. It was sorta combersome compared to the 3" which is a slick little gun and I only want about 1200 fps out of it any way. The 5 inch went down the road.
