rubber bullets for training indoors

Does anybody use rubber bullets powered only by the primer for training indoors? I saw some of these at midway and was wondering if anyone uses them and if they are very good at all.

thanks

A friend used to shoot them out of a .38/.357 in his second floor apartment. He range was down the front hall, across the living room and into the kitchen. He was very happy with the results, but I can't remember any of the details. He's been living on a 32' Silverton for the past 6 or 7 years and doesn't shoot indoors anymore.

Rubber or plastic? I don't know of any rubber bullets on the civilian market, but Speer makes plastic bullets and plastic cases that use only a primer and can be reloaded without a tool. They work well, but BE CAREFUL as they have more power than you might think.

I once tried them by taping a target to a cardboard box, which I then set on an armchair. The bullet went through the box and completely through the back of the chair. Ooooppps! (The chair was an old one, used for relaxing in a shed; had it been a new one I would still be hearing about it.)

Sounds like it would be a lot safer and fun to pick up a gas powered semi auto pistol made for airsoft. www.airsoftatlanta.com has a wide stateside selection. I have a Beretta from them, great gun, very accurate through the main hall in my house. And I can practice my trigger pull and draw.

I'm wondering what sort of sound they produce? Any thing like the .22 Aquila primer/bullet cartridges?

Got some pesky city cats (wild) I'd like to see gone (dead or alive) ... only joking, of course!;) :D :p
