Royal Hong Kong Police COLTS?!?

I bumped into one today. Under $200.00. I thought the RHKP carried 4", S&W M10s. I am thinking about getting this as it is a Colt Police Positive 38 Special. I already have a Colt Police Positive 38 in 38 S&W. I guess it could be my James Bond revolver.

I had one quite a few years ago (my ex-wife claimed it long before we went our separate ways). Colt had the contract for the revolvers before S&W. You need to check that revolver as most I have seen were .38 New Police (also known as .38SW). The reasoning for them going to the S&W M10 was for the .38sp cartridge.
I think I paid something like $100 when I bought mine. It was great shooter.

OK. I will have to go back to the shop and check as to chambering. I have a M10 complete with lanyard ring and engraved ID on the backstrap. I really didn't have time to check the Colt out. I knew I could find something out here though.

The PP I had also had the lanyard ring ( a requirement of the contract) and "RHKP" stamped into the backstrap.

RHKP, lanyard ring and the pony were there. I didn't even think to check the chambering. I have plenty of 38 S&W so, I will probably buy it if it checks out OK.

.38 S&W was the original chambering for many of these revolvers -- Webley, Enfield, Colt, AND Smith & Wessons will all be found marked RHKP.

However, in the 1960s RHKP changed to .38 Special and S&W.

I've seen a number of nearly new RHKP Model 10s in .38 Special in the past year at the one shop I frequent.

Unfortunately, I've yet to see a sane price.
