Almost all of the major powder manufacturers have web sites with reloading data including velocity. One good example is the data section at Hodgdon's site.
Most rounds are available in a WIDE variety of velocities and weights. There are however standard weights and velocities of the various handgun rounds.
9mm = 124 gr ~1200fps
.45ACP = 230 gr ~850fps.
an EXCELLENT source having the all the bullets offered by MAJOR manufacturers is at: http://greent.com/40Page/
There are links to the various handgun rounds and their respective velocities e.g.
.380 ACP
- Advertised velocities.
there's also a link for all the major handgun calibers.
On paper, the Guns & Ammo Handgun Annual always has a table in the back listing velocity and energy at the muzzle and at 50 yards for a variety of ammo in most pistol calibers. They give barrel lengths, too. I have found this a handy reference.
