rough day at the range

Had a hard range session today.

started with my rock island compact (officer) .45 that wouldn't return to full battery pretty consistently for the first 30 rounds, then got better (only about 30% fo the time would fail to return to battery) for the next 25 rounds. I could see it being blamed on limp wristing. although i feel i was holding it pretty firmly for the first part, and maybe even looser for the second part. grouping was decent but better sites are definitely on the to get list.

second was the cz 75 compact, which i was shooting pretty well, however one spent casing failed to eject getting jammed between the slide and barrel locking the slide open halfway. pulled the slide and shook the casing out, finished the magazine with out a problem. in the next magazine a round only made it half way up the feed ramp, while being setback pretty severely, (showed it to the ro and he complemented me on being smart enough not to loss a hand).

Third was the eaa witness fullsize that only had three mags worth shot through it. One round failed to chamber, hung up on the feed ramp as well. other than that it was the high point of my dismal outing.

and the grand finale

Kahr p40, that after the second magazine through it refuse to keep the magazine locked in place. My pinky rested between the bottom of the grip and the grip extension of the magazine. with a proper grip it would with out fail pull the magazine out about an inch so that the next round would not chamber. the last two rounds didn't seem to really have that problem but the first 4 rounds of the magazine where a guarantee to fail. i thought i might be pressing the magazine release on accident with my thumb, so i fired a mag with my thumb completely of the grip with the same results. with my pinky and thumb out of my grip it seemed to function but obviously that kind of a grip isn't practical.

so any suggestions on where to start on fixing these problems? the ammo was wwb fmj in all the guns by the way.

also could over lubrication be causing any of these problems?

Sir;
Most of the things you mention can be addressed by a competent smith on all three pistols. It's not uncommon for "out of the box" pistols to need some polishing of the feed ramps, barrel throating, extractor tension and the chamber throated for lead bullets and a whole host of other things.
I like the Rock Island Armory pistols (I've got a Charles Daley snubby 45) and the others are probably going to "smooth out" to some degree with use, although I'd have them looked at by a comptent smith!
