here lately iv been haveing problems with spent shells sticking in the chamber. mostly federal 3" 00buck magnums, and when they stick, they stick theres no prying it out with a pocket knife. iv shot 3 of the 5 in the box and 2 of them got stuck. the walmart cheap'o 25rd boxes seems to work fine.

my question, is it the ammo or might it be a bur in the chamber that the magnum ammo is expanding a bit more and catching on the burr? the chamber looks clean and smooth. anyone else have this kinda problem?

Ejection on these and the H&R shotguns is kind of wimpy, so hotter shells tend to stick. Just shoot different shells, and you should be fine.

If there is a burr in the chamber, it should leave a scratch on the ejected shell.

i got to lookin at the federal stuff and it has some kinda coating on the brass of the shell. i wonder if that could be heating up after a few rounds and causeing the round to kinda "glue" itself in the chamber? the chamber looks smooth and there no scares on the ejected casings.

it ejects the spent casings about 2 yards behind me so i wouldnt think its a problem with the ejecter. iv been hit in the face rather hard at times when im not paying attention to the ejecting shell. :p a freind of mine has an nef 12ga and like u said it doesnt eject as hard as other break-open's that iv seen or mine for that matter.

i quess the next step is just to test other brands to see if its just the federal brand. does anyone else have problem with the federal coated stuff?

To help things along, clean the chamber thoroughly.

Most people are very careful about getting a nice clean bore, buy just assume the chamber gets cleaned properly too.

The chamber has a problem with build-up of carbon and plastic.

I suggest buying a shotgun chamber cleaning brush and handle from Brownell's.

Use this to scrub the chamber out and many extraction problems go away.
