i just got back from the gun show and got a couple guns but i got a rossi 5 shot stainless 38 special for $160.00 a good deal i think as the gun is in new condition the wood grips are good with no scratches dings or anything else wrong with them the gun looks brand new it has a 21/2 inch barrel( i think) . are these good guns ? i saw what i think is the model number inside the cylinder where it is on a smith it had"m885" is this right? does anyone use these guns ? im planning on using it as a car gun but i do want to get some good rubber grips . does anyone know anything about these guns? thanks for any info:D

The Rossi is a good gun. Its similar to a Taurus, who now owns Rossi, just for note worthiness. The 38 snub you bought is a nice gun..Ive had 2 of the 357's and they are as good as you can expect for the price...mostly better depending on the gun.
You did pretty good...Shoot well

i found out it wont work in holsters for my bodygaurd :( and its been the dickens trying to find some rubber grips i may contact rossi and see if i can order them direct does any one know their email? thanks :D

I bought the little 5 shot Rossi Snubby a few years ago. I like it - I like it a lot. It has several thousand rounds through it, and is still as tight and new feeling as it can be. I did have to take it in to a smith and have him play around with the hammer block transfer bar a few weeks ago. It began dragging, and made the trigger feel a bit gritty. Now, it is again as smooth as can be.

Considering that I have carried this gun for a little over 5 years, and have put several thousand rounds through it, I think it is a lot of gun for the money.

Oh yeah - at 15 yds or less it is a real sweet little shooter. I have been very pleased with the ability to put rounds where I want them to go.

Is it an Interarms or a Brazilian Rossi? The old Interarms Rossis blow hot and cold. I carry a really nice Interarms Rossi M88 snubbie that I like a lot, but I`ve seen earlier versions of the same gun that were just awful! If the fit and finish look good and it`s nice and tight, then you`ve gotten a good one. I have no complaints about mine. Shoots nice, too.

I've got an M88 that I've had forever and a day. I love it, but good luck finding after market grips for it. Some of the Rossi snubs came with rubber combat grips, but I don't know of any companies making replacement grips for them.

Rossi model 88 in .38 Special-

I just got through cleaning my wife's M88 .38 Special
snub nose revolver. It has been carried a lot; and shot
very little. She chose the square butt, stainless
Rossi over several Smith & Wesson snubbie's.:( The
M88 looks and feels good; and the lock-up is better
than some Smith's I've seen! :D :)

Greeting's Meowhead,

I'm still here, but unfortunately I couldn't talk my
bride into a Sig!:( She just didn't want to spend
that kind'a cash. I would have liked to seen
her choose an older S&W model 36, with
a square butt and nickel finish. :D

 I suspect it's about time someone start using gun oil more liberally after they reblue something....

It makes me want to cry. :(

BLiTzNicK's got it right. But then again, if you bought it used, you can't be blamed for the neglect it suffered.

Still brings a tear to my eye though. :(

I bought my wife a stainless Rossi snubby and it's been an excellent gun. I did an action job on it and internally it's just like a Smith & Wesson Model 60. I'd much prefer the Rossi over a Taurus because of the goofy lock work that Taurus uses in their revolvers.
