Rossi R462

I looked at this gun at Academy today. Kinda supprisied at how sloppy the cylinder lock was. When in the firing position I was able to rotate the cylinder quite a lot. Anyone with this gun? What do you think?

I recently looked at one. It was NIB. The only time it locked up soid was in single action. If the hammer was down at rest, the cylinder free wheeled. You couldn't give me a Rossi. Yes, I have owned three. All non-functional. All unsafe. All gone to the great gunsmith reward.

I would be surprised as well

Once again Im amazed at reports such as yours about poor quality from Amadeo Rossi, which is now a subsidiary of Taurus Interntional. As Ive stated in earlier posts, Ive owned guns from both makers...a stainless Rossi Bulldog and a Taurus .38 Ultralite snubby. I was extremely pleased with the quality of both guns. Both functioned flawlessly right out of the box. While its true that both makes had QC problems in the past, both have been brought on a par with other brands in recent times. A NIB gun should never have any problems that can be detected simply by inspecting it at the dealers counter, and if it does it shouldnt be on the dealers shelf. I certainly would pass on such a lemon too. Having said that, if you bought one and later found it to be less than acceptable, I would be surprised if Taurus would not correct the problem at no further cost to you. In fact, I bet they would refund your shipping costs as well. They do have an ironclad warranty.

I have been happy with Taurus. My 44,66 and 85 were all quality revolvers. I am anticipating the Gaucho and Thunderbolt being exciting. My Rossi experiences have all been negative. I even tried two of their 92 clone lever actions with no luck.

I had a 462. Experienced same double action lock up problems noted. Sent it back to BrazTech (Taurus) twice. They never fixed it. Finally ran it across a band saw and scrapped it out.
