Rossi Model 92 SAC 38/357 Problems

A few years back I picked up a Rossi lever gun in 357. From the day I got it home it had problems feeding ammo, especially anything with lead at the front. FMJ's feed better, but none of it feeds smoothly.

The place that sold it to me told me to send it back for warranty work, which I did. Took several months to get the rifle back, and it came with a note saying that they will no longer be doing the warranty repairs at that location. I was just out shooting with it this past weekend, and it still has the same problems.

Now I took it back to the place where I bought it. they have a gun smith that comes at the end of each week to pick up work from them and said they would give it to him, and he could fix it for a reasonable price. They also suggested in the meantime I should try to contact someone about getting a factory replacement.

Taurus had bought out Rossi from what I can gather, but I can't seem to find any info about who to contact about the rifle now. The gun shop mentioned Legacy Arms, but I have not been able to locate any information on them.

If anyone has any information about who to contact about a factory replacement of the rifle, please let me know.

I`m curious what type of ammo you have tried. My mod 92 was balky with S&B 158gr. but feeds 158gr.Blazers fine.It really hates .38sp.Before investing money in having a gunsmith look at it or sending it back you might try a couple different brands of ammo.Sorry,I can`t help with contact info.

Ammo types.

Since I also have a S&W 686 in 357, I have tried a variety of loads and manufacturers in the Rossi, in both 357 and 38, but to no avail. Basically as I said, it hates anything with a soft nose, and has never cycled any type of ammo smoothly.

DB, I had one that needed slicking up and was/is ammo sensitive. The up side is that it was accurate.

May want to post a question in the CAS forum for the name of a good 'smith to tune the rifle.

BTW, I didn't sell it, the ex got it in the divorce.

Rossi v Ammo

I have been told FOR YEARS, that Rossi handguns are weak in design. As an example of what I was told:

If you have a .38 Special...A [2.7 Bullseye load] lead wadcutter would be considered a +P+ load.

Well, the gun shop already has the rifle and will give it to thier smith at the end of the week. I was however trying to find a way to contact whoever is in charge of the Rossi rifles before then, and trying to arange for an exchange for a new one instead of again having work performed on this one.

If anyone knows who I can contact about an exchange, please let me know.
