Rossi M92 Report

I recently aquired a stainless Rossi Mod.92 lever action carbine in .357 mag and would like to comment on the rifle.
Accuracy is more then acceptable. At 25 yards using 158gr.CCI Blazer sp`s I am getting 2" groups. At 75 yards the groups open up to 4"and about 3" high.I had to drift the front sight a bit to get on target.I am able to hit a plastic milk jug with regularity at 100 yards.Fit and finish is ok.The wood doesn`t match up with the adjacent metal as well as on a Marlin or Winchester. The stainless is finished in a semi bright style.Overall the rifle is eye catching.

Functioning was reliable if a bit stiff.I initially started out with S&B 158 gr.flatpoints which were a bit balky before switching to the Blazers.UMC .38sp. fmj`s didn`t work at all with the last 2 rounds both popping out of the feed tube at once. There is a safety on top of the reciever which consists of a simple L shaped lever and is very unobtrusive if someone wants to use it.I stuck with using the traditional half cock safety and left the other one in the fire position.

My only real gripe would have to be that the feed gate is rather small and reloads will prove to be painful for people with chunky fingers.Overall I`m well pleased with the Rossi and at $385 would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a handy truck gun, plinker or home defense carbine.
