Rossi (Braztech) vs. NEF Single-Shot

I'm considering a Rossi or NEF combo gun (come with a .22LR and a shotgun barrel). These are very inexpensive, and they seem like they would be nice guns for teaching kids (I have an 11-year-old son, and I'm a Boy Scout leader). I've heard varying opinions on quality (one guy told me the Rossi is much better, but another says the NEF is the best). I probably won't have a chance to see them both before I buy (I'll be ordering it). I posted this question on the rifle forum earlier today, but I got to thinking that these are more like shotguns than typical rifles, so people on the shotgun forum might have more experience with them. I'd like a .22/20ga combo. Thanks.

I've an H&R topper 20 gauge shotgun (which is the same as the NEF, since they're the same company), and I like it a lot. I don't know anything about the rossi.

Neither's a bad choice, tho I've little experience with the Brazilian shotguns. These are about as basic a shotgun as there is.

The NEF here is Son's entry level 12 gauge. I load it way down for him, 3/4 oz loads are nigh kickless in this 5 lb, 9 oz shotgun. I doubt we'll wear it out, these last a long time.

One caveat, the NEFs are hard to disassemble to work on the trigger. Oft these come with gorilla triggers. The Rossi is similar, I warrant.

So try and pick one with a decent trigger.

HTH...

Ive seen the Rossi matched pair .22/20 locally for $119.00.I own a NEF 12 gauge and i doubt i'll ever wear it out.Either would be a good choice i'm sure.
