Rossi 45 Colt

There are two at my LGS, both stainless, one has a 20" barrel, the other a 24" octagon barrel. Which one would you pick and why?

Thanks

What do you intend to do with it?

Personally I like shorter barrels on long guns, but that's because I hunt with them and shorter guns carry easier in the woods. I have a 20" Rossi and have been pleased with it. Took a nice 9 pointer with it last month with a handloaded 260 gr. WFN hardcast.

I have the blued and case hardened 24" Octagonal barrel in .45LC. I load my own and it's one of my favorite rifles to shoot. I wanted more of a period looking rifle, but I'm sure stainless will hold up better. Mine loves Train Boss powder and 255 SWC lead bullets.

Thanks for the replies. It would be used mostly for paper punching, but I'd like to use it to hunt with as well. I think it/they would make good pig guns at short to medium range. The 20" is light and well balanced and handles very well, but has a short LOP; the 24" is a little front-heavy, but has a better LOP for me, so I'm kind of torn between the two. I plan on using hot Buffalo Bore ammo for hunting the pigs.

I prefer the 24" octagon. It has a better looking forearm and a more curved butt to the butt stock. Just looks better to me. I plan on getting the 24" octagon soon to be a stunt double for my real Winchester 1892 which is a 24" octagon 44-40 that my great- grandpa bought new in 1895. The real one only gets shot once a year now.
