I have been looking at this gun for a couple weeks now along with others. I know most revolvers do not have a scope rail or taps for bases. Can you have theses guns tapped.
 
After a little research on my dime I assume it has a 6" barrel. They make a or made scope mounts for replaceing the rear sites with a scope mount, I'll let you do the rest of the research.

I'm sure it would have to be for a S&W though, I'd bet you could make it work.
 
B-square made a mount for the 971 that used the rear sight taps. I'm not sure if this would work on the 972 or not. Easy enough to drill and tap.
