Rossi 22LR/410 Youth Combo Opinions

Thinking about buying a Rossi 22LR/410 Youth Combo for my (almost) 12 year old son, since he admires my rifles and shotguns so much. The only rifle I've let him try is my AR15. Anything else would knock his shoulder off.

Does anyone have any actual experience/exposure to this gun that can provide feedback?

I don't have personal experience, but I must say that 22/410 seems like an excellent combination for him. It is also a good combination for a survival gun, so it is something he wont have to outgrow. If he was doing some intense hiking, he could carry tons of 22/410 ammo without weighing him down. You can also get distress flares in 410. I have heard of people drilling out the stock and keeping a few spare rounds in there. :)
