Romanian TTC Question

I just picked up a Romanian TTC and I have a quick question that I haven't been able to find an answer to on Google.

I want to remove the lanyard ring on the left side of the grip since I am a lefty shooter and I was planning on making some new grips for it to fill the hole that will be left.

Can I easily remove the lanyard ring or do I have to cut it off?
Also, can I remove the safety that they installed right below the slide stop? it seems to be in the way for my grip.

I think you might just have to cut it off. I have Norinco copy of the Tokarev, and I'm primarily a lefty as well. These guns were not built very ambi-friendly as near as I can tell.

My solution was just to shoot the dang thing right handed. I'm a passable shot rightie...certainly better than dealing with the lanyard digging into my palm. I just hate to chop up a gun that can't be imported any longer.
