romanian .22 problem

I just picked up on of these this afternoon. Stock and blueing are pretty nice. The bolt is not so hot though (it's not matching. Who here was lucky enough to get a matching bolt on one of the "issued" quality rifles?).
The bolt is causing feed problems. The flat bar on the left side of the bolt (opposite the ejector claw) is foward when the bolt is back (seems locked there too) so that the back of the cartridge cannot rise to engage the extractor claw. Thus, I'm forced to feed one at a time. It almost looks like the only purpose that this bar serves is to force the shooter to put one round at a time in the chamber (i.e. rendering the magazine useless). Can I remove it? or is it actually serving some purpose?

Is it possible that I wasn't pulling the bolt back far enough? (I only shot it 3 time because the guy next to me was killing my ear drums, and I haven't had a chance to really study it)

good grief! I've just realized that that bar might be the bolt (slipped by me that this is a rimfire gun). Guess it would serve a useful purpose in that case. Still need help though.

This has been discussed before. Do a search on Romanian .22.

The feed problem is likely caused by the little slidey ejector bar not retracting when the bolt slides forward to strip off and capture a round. The ejector blocks the capture.

Take the bolt apart and clean all the cosmoline out. That will be a good start.

I had the exact same problem with mine. Did what Jaeger describes. End of problem. Had to buy a small punch (1/16?) and file a small burr from the bolt (used a combo of an automotive points file and emery cloth). A good cleaning and lube of the bolt.

Now I love this rifle. Shot it over the weekend, and had entirely too much fun. It is remarkable accurate.

I finally got the firing pin out and found some nasty burrs on the end that is in contact with the striker (or what ever you call the part that pushes the pin forward when you pull the trigger). So, I suspect that I'll have to file more burrs down after I've shot it a lot. What do you think.
BTW, presently the bolt works flawlessly, although there is sometimes a problem with bullets pointing too far up (operating the bolt faster avoids this), and also sometimes a problem engaging the last round in the magazine (spring is probably shot)

Thanks for all the advice!
