Rolling Blocks in .223 or .308?

Would a Remington Rolling Block style rifle be possible to safely chamber in .223 or .308 Win? Seems like if it was possible it would be fun. Just curious. Thanks!

Style, yes. A guy on THR built a rolling block out of chrome moly steel, beefed up in load bearing areas. It's a .30-06.

A real Remington Rolling Block or Italian repro?
I wouldn't.

The most modern Rolling Block calibers I know of are 7mm Mauser, .30-40 Krag, and 8mm Lebel.

I can't say anything about the modern ones.
My opinion is just an opinion. Its not the "official word"
I would trust a good, sound specimen of a smokeless powder Rolling Block to about 40 k PSI,and that would require some upgrades.

Maybe a 30-40 Krag. Definitely not a .308.

For a .308 or .223,the Ruger #1 would be a great choice.
