Rolling Block misfires

I've got several different rolling blocks. One by Remington. Two by Pedersoli. One by Lone Star. All occasionally have misfires. It is as if the firing pin just doesn't move when hit by the hammer.

Two questions. How common a problem is this? What can be done to eliminate it?

Since it's happening to a varity of different brand rifles, I'd suspect an ammo problem. Hard primers, improper headspace??
Next time it happens, check the firing pin indent. Also take care to insure the block is fully closed. If it's a headspace problem, the case may be preventing the block from closing fully. This would still allow the hammer to fall, but would cushion it enough to give mis-fires.
Check your ammo with a case gauge, and clean the chambers.
I once had a problem 30/06 in which I KNEW the rifle was bad. After checking the ammo with a case gauge, I discovered the die had gotten out of adjustment, and my headspace was off.

Another possible condition.

Are you sure that your primers are being seated deeply enough into the primer pockets?

A primer that isn't seated deeply enough can move forward when the firing pin hits it, effectively cushioning the strike enough to cause misfires.

If a primer is not seated deeply enough or if there is anything like dirt under the extractor or in the chamber, the breechblock may not close completely. If it does not, the falling hammer will use its energy forcing the breechblock forward rather than striking the firing pin.
